Lukas finished his Computational Engineering (CE) Master at the end of 2024 at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), where he specialized on the intersection of numerical simulation, fluid dynamics and machine learning. The thesis tackled the prediction of the permeability of porous media with Fourier Neural Operators (FNO). Now he focuses on deepening the usage of physics-based neural networks as a complement to traditional solvers.

In April 2025, Lukas joined the NHR team in Erlangen to support AI-focused projects on the new high-performance computers and provide guidance for the systems.
